These Not Those: Better Products for Your Family

Many of us don’t realize what’s really in the products we use everyday. It’s not just in the food we digest; clean eating won’t do it alone. From makeup to detergent, we are flooding our bodies with toxic ingredients that impact our mental and physical health.

Getting data about health effects from exposure to chemicals is not easy, but there is growing evidence linking a certain family of chemicals, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, to neurobehavioral problems, obesity and cancer cell growth. The researchers, from the University of Berkeley, and Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas, say that the issue may be more urgent for women, and especially teens.

This new study shows after just 3 days of using makeup, shampoos and lotions free of hormone-disrupting chemicals, levels dropped up to 45 percent.

A great resource to check out, the Environmental Working Group offers a highly informative site where you can check out what cosmetic products you are using and give you a “healthy” rating based on the ingredients in the product. Click here for more information!

Making the change today to healthier and better products is a lot easier than you think. Healthy supermarkets are no longer the only places carrying these healthier options. Many local supermarkets are now carrying cleaner and healthier options that give your family a better choice. Thrive Market, Amazon and other online retailers offer many non-toxic products that arrive quickly and inexpensively.
